2 Solstice Poems

{Poem 1}

Sometimes it happens
That I stay up late
Twinkling with the stars
Sirius flashing
her bright beauty
Hello old friend
Was that a coyote
off in the distance?

{Poem 2}

Oh beautiful world
White crystalline winter
Moon and Jupiter
Everything sparkles
Everything shines
Fruits still hang
on tree and vine
A winter feast
for the birds and me
As the land rests
Trees sleep deep
But still we scurry
Bunnies, squirrels, foxes…
Life becomes simple
Sustenance, sun, and sleep
In burrows we dream

Written in the plains outside Boulder, Colorado
